Invitation for VCFSE organisations: Exercise Critical Flow

Voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations across Greater Manchester are invited to take part in Exercise Critical Flow — a multi agency exercise bringing together responders and community organisations to strengthen how we work together during pressurised and prolonged incidents.

The exercise will take place on Saturday 28th March between 10am-3pm at The British Red Cross Training Centre, Bradbury House, 4 Ohio Ave, Salford M50 2GT.

The exercise will create space for VCFSE organisations to share experience, explore how community support links into formal response arrangements, and build relationships with responders in a supportive, learning focused environment.

This is an opportunity to help shape how the system works in practice — ensuring that community knowledge, trust and capability are better understood and used when people need support most.

Taking part will give VCFSE organisations the opportunity to:

  • See how emergency responders operate under pressure, and how VCFSE support can connect into that response
  • Share insight into community needs, strengths and challenges during periods of disruption
  • Build relationships with responders and other partners across the Greater Manchester Resilience Forum
  • Clarify roles, expectations and routes for engagement during incidents
  • Influence future training, exercising and preparedness, based on lived and frontline experience

The exercise is designed to be accessible and supportive, including for organisations that are newer to emergency planning or Greater Manchester Resilience Forum arrangements. It is not an assessment and does not require specialist emergency response experience.

The Greater Manchester Resilience Forum are keen to involve a broad range of VCFSE organisations, including those working with communities who may be disproportionately affected during periods of disruption.
