Love Longsight grants – your community you decide

12 Dec 2014 - 11:40 by michelle.foster

Greater Manchester Police has a fantastic opportunity to invest cash back of £30,000 into the community of the Longsight. The money set aside can be applied for in sums of £500 up to £3,000, and is there for you to invest in your local groups or community activities.

This cash is to support your local groups in order to assist you in planning community meetings, to purchase much needed equipment for youth engagement or to assist in transforming your street by neighbour involvement.

Only one application can be made by a group/individual on behalf of other residents for material or equipment, which will assist in bringing your community together. All bids made must benefit within the Longsight Council ward areas.

The bid you submit will have to benefit the community of Longsight and be sustainable.

To apply for the funding complete the application form attached, with your details and the outline of your bid and return it by 5 January 2015, to:
Longsight Police Station, Grindlow Street Manchester M13 0LL or Longsight Library Community Room519 Stockport Road Manchester M12 4NE

This will then be evaluated by an independent scrutiny panel. Successful applicants will be invited to attend to do a pitch in front of the local community on 24 January 2015, between 12.30pm-4.30pm, to which the local community judging on the day will vote for.

Successful applicants will need to do a 3 minute pitch at the Participatory Budgeting event, at the Sanam Buffet and Banqueting Hall, 587 Stockport Road, Longsight, Manchester, M13 0RX. There must only be up to 3 people doing the pitch on stage and they should be mentioned on the application if possible. Once all pitches are complete, the members of the community who attend on the day will vote for the project they want to fund.
