#MakeMCR Pledge Pot

23 Oct 2015 - 11:20 by michelle.foster

What is #MakeMCR
#MakeMCR supports crowd-funding ideas and projects by and for Manchester people that will create better places and spaces for the benefit of all our residents and that will help develop our city.

#MakeMCR is an initiative between We Love MCR, the charity of the Lord Mayor of the City of Manchester, and crowd-funding platform Spacehive. It is supported by Manchester City Council and a growing number of other partners.

CrowdfundUK has been appointed to help people develop their ideas and projects into crowd-funding campaigns. In addition, people that decide to run their campaign on Spacehive and link it to the #MakeMCR hive will:
• Get help running their campaign
• Benefit from extra PR
• Be signposted to grants and other support e.g. with video-making or volunteers.
• Be able to apply for a grant pledge when funding is available

To find out how CrowdfundUK can help email: [email protected].

The #MakeMCR Pledge Pot
The #MakeMCR Pledge Pot is open to voluntary, community and public sector organisations and to partnership projects that provide clear wider benefits for the city. Projects must be Manchester based or the majority of benefits must be in Manchester.

To apply for a #MakeMCR pledge, projects must be registered on Spacehive and show how their project will help Manchester residents (including staff or volunteers working on the project) gain new skills and work experiences.

#MakeMCR will match pledges raised on Spacehive up to a maximum of £1,000.

Examples:
• If you need to raise £1,000 on Spacehive and you get pledges worth £500 then #MakeMCR will pledge the other £500 and you have reached your target.
• If you need to raise £3,000 on Spacehive and you get pledges worth £1,000 then #MakeMCR will pledge £1,000 and you will still need to secure £1,0000 pledges before you reach your target.

To apply complete the application form attached.

Applications can be submitted at any time after registering on Spacehive but applications will not be considered until projects have been verified and approved by Spacehive. Pledge decisions will then be made on a ‘first verified first served’ basis.

Pledges may not be honoured if projects:
• Have not started online fund-raising within 1 month of the pledge approval date
• Do not secure the pledges needed to release the #MakeMCR pledge within 2 months of going live

Organisations can normally apply only once for a #MakeMCR pledge but exceptions can be made for projects that can bring significant benefits to Manchester or Manchester residents.
