Manchester Be Proud Awards 2018 – nominations now open

This is your chance to celebrate the volunteers and unsung heroes who work hard to make ‘Our Manchester’ so great. These groups and individuals make a big difference in communities and help to make Manchester the thriving, friendly and buzzing city it is. Be Proud is your chance to say a big thank you and celebrate their work.

Do you know a group of people or a person who really stands out in your local community? Show you appreciate all they do by nominating them in this year’s Be Proud Awards.

This year there are twelve categories to choose from and the lucky finalists and their sponsors will be invited to a glittering gala dinner and award ceremony in November, held at the beautiful Midland Hotel.

There are 12 categories to nominate for are:

  • Blossoming Communities: Recognising a group or individual whose care of green spaces has made a big difference
  • Bringing Communities Together: For a project or event that brought people together to celebrate their diverse cultures
  • Business in the Community: Focused on businesses that invest time, skills and funds to improve their community
  • Clean Neighbourhood: A project, individual or group that has worked to involve the community in keeping their neighbourhood clean
  • Community Force: A person or group that has stood up to adversity, helped to keep their neighbourhoods safe, or helped to make their community proud of where they live
  • Community Project of the Year: A project that united people to recognise a problem or opportunity in their neighbourhood and brought to life a vision of local people to tackle it
  • Creativity in the Community: Any creative project – from arts, writing and music, to digital technology and social media – with people at its heart
  • Neighbour of the Year: This person’s kindness, practical help and support have made a real difference to you or your community
  • Recycling Project of the Year: Celebrating people who’ve found ways to make Manchester greener through recycling
  • Volunteer of the Year: Two awards (one for an individual and one for a group) highlighting the exceptional contribution made by volunteers who improve the lives or surroundings of others
  • Young Achiever of the Year: A Mancunian aged under 18 who has made a real difference through their passion and commitment to their community
  • Special Recognition: This award recognises an individual or group that has stepped up and shown what Manchester is made of by going the extra mile to support their neighbourhood and community
