Manchester Volunteer Advice Partnership (MVAP) run 9-week training courses (sessions every Tuesday) teaching you how to give good quality advice on welfare benefits and housing, as well as assertiveness and communication skills. During this training, you will also be placed at either Manchester Refugee Support Network (MRSN) or Cheetham Hill Advice Centre (CHAC) for half a week day to volunteer as an advice worker.
This new round of training has a big emphasis on accessibility, so if you think you might be interested but have barriers to accessing for whatever reason get in touch.
The recruitment session will begin with a talk where you will learn more about the training offered. You will then have the opportunity to meet the training co-ordinator and volunteer supervisors from Manchester Refugee Support Network and Cheetham Hill Advice Centre to discuss individual questions and concerns.
The next sessions start on:
3 May at 1pm at the Wai Yin Welcome Centre’s Café in Cheetham Hill, M8 0TW
10 May at 2pm at St James Church, Moss side, M14 4TH
Refreshments will be provided.
