The Pankhurst Trust brings together Manchester Women’s Aid and the Pankhurst Centre which works together to ensure the story of the women who won the vote continues to inspire us all to challenge gender inequality, and to ensure that those suffering from domestic violence and abuse get the confidential help they need.
PTMWA are looking for a new Chair of the Board of Trustees, someone who wants to help the organisation to continue the vital work they do for women and girls, someone who can inspire action and someone who can help to carry forward the ambitious plans for the Trust.
The new Chair will join the organisation at both a very challenging and an exciting time. This appointment follows a year during which the organisation has seen colleagues and volunteers for Manchester Women’s Aid rise up to meet significant increases in demand for domestic abuse services whilst managing the enormous difficulties and complexities created by Covid-19.
It comes at a time when the need for the women’s services they provide has never been greater and when the plans for the reopening of the Pankhurst Centre and the revealing of the new permanent exhibition, At Home with the Pankhurst Family; will see the organisation take a huge step towards their vision of achieving the restoration and conservation of Emmeline Pankhurst’s former home.
The successful candidate will be a feminist who shares the values of the Trust’s mission, aims and objectives. A leader with strong interpersonal skills, your experience or appreciation of the role of Trustee or NED will enable you to ensure all parties are focused on the PTMWA strategic aims, cultural development and financial sustainability. You will have an understanding of the legal duties of a trustees and your personal and political integrity will support you in advocating on behalf the Trust.
This voluntary opportunity has been assessed and confirmed as open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, part 1.
