Pilotlight: Develop your charitable organisation holistically

20 Sep 2021 - 14:57 by michelle.foster

pilotlightPilotlight are opening a new programme of support for charities in England and Wales coming out of the pandemic. Pilotlight are offering free, patient support for charity leaders, putting together teams of business experts to help them over the course of a year.

The programmes are free of charge and offer the chance for the leader of a charity or social enterprise to benefit from the expertise and knowledge of professionals from a variety of prominent UK businesses, the public and charity sectors.

The programme is 10 months in length and will see a charity leader gain support from four senior leaders from a range of private, public, and charity sector organisations. Together, they coach and support that leader and the organisation's leadership team through the strategic challenges and opportunities they face.

How it works
Over two-hourly meetings once a month, together with a team of 4 Pilotlighters, you will create between 2-4 project aims you will work together to achieve. These are responsive to your organisation’s needs and can include: vision and mission setting; governance and leadership development; strategic business planning; away day planning/facilitation; income diversification; and improved impact measurement.

At the end of the programme you could have created a robust future-looking strategy, a refreshed governance structure, revised vision and mission statements or an action plan for key operational improvements.

As the support is free of charge, charity leaders are expected to commit at least a day a month for the length of the engagement, though the more time you and your organisation can put in, the more you’ll get out of it. Your board of trustees is also expected to be fully engaged with the programme and for the Chair to attend meetings with the charity leader where possible.

Deadline for applications: 15 October
