You may have seen that Real Junk Food Manchester is starting a new project. After a year of running Manchester’s first waste food pay-as-you-feel restaurant, Real Junk Food Manchester are developing a new venture - our city’s first waste food catering social enterprise.
The aim is to further increase the amount of food that they can intercept from becoming waste, and to use it to offer sustainable, low carbon, high quality catering. The catering offer will be unique in Manchester, and will support the objective to lower the city’s carbon footprint. The catering enterprise will subsidise work with community and charity partners that supports access to nutritious food for everyone across our city, and training and back to work opportunities.
Real Junk Food Manchester are currently crowdfunding to raise start up capital, and following some feedback from corporate / organisation supporters to the new venture, they have developed a range of Sustainable Catering Packages.
The Sustainable Catering Packages allow businesses and organisations across Greater Manchester to support the set up of the new social enterprise venture, by pre-ordering the catering service. Real Junk Food Manchester can offer a huge range of catering options including canapés, buffets, fine dining events and more, all created using 100% food that would have gone to waste. It’s not necessary to have dates and numbers worked out, the packages can be used like vouchers or credit for either a single event, or a series of smaller events or meetings.
The crowdfunder has just launched, and the initial push is to raise £50,000 by the 1 October, for further information, visit: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/openkitchenmcr
