Research project: Pathways into employment and/or training for people with personal experiences of multiple disadvantage in Manchester

3 Mar 2022 - 09:33 by michelle.foster

Revolving Doors is a charity that works for improvements to the criminal justice system and services for people experiencing multiple disadvantage. Revolving Doors do this through research, interviewcampaigning and projects with people with lived experience.

Revolving Doors are currently completing a project for Inspiring Change Manchester to explore what training and employment opportunities there are for people with personal experience of multiple disadvantages across Manchester, and what helps or stops people to achieve their ambitions.

To help do this Revolving Doors want to speak to different organisations and people with lived experience to talk about:

  • What training, voluntary and paid jobs people with lived experience are completing in Manchester, and what their experience of this is
  • What helped people with lived experience to find and stay in work, volunteering or training opportunities
  • What is stopping more people with lived experience from entering training, volunteering or employment
  • Whether any further support (for organisations or individuals) would be helpful
  • What can be done to make opportunities more inclusive

What taking part in the research involves
Revolving Doors will arrange an interview at a suitable date and time for you. Interviews can be conducted in person, by telephone or by video call, whatever you prefer. It is expected to take between 30-45 minutes, depending on how much you have to say. Interviews will be confidential, so if Revolving Doors quote anyone this will be anonymised. Revolving Doors will only break confidentiality if they become concerned for your wellbeing or safety. Taking part is voluntary, and you can change your mind at any time without giving a reason. There are no right or wrong answers we are just interested in your opinion.
