Rosa have announced the opening of their third small grants funding round aimed at tackling Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the UK.
Funded by Comic Relief, in Round 3, an estimate of 8-10 grants of between £500 and £5,000 to voluntary and community organisations will be awarded for projects tackling FGM across the UK. Grants will be available for training, mentoring, research, networking, and delivering advice, support, and awareness-raising services.
The grants will help funded organisations to:
• become more confident, more knowledgeable, and more skilled in tackling FGM within their communities
• improve their skills in engaging with, and lobbying, statutory bodies to encourage appropriate responses to FGM
• contribute to a unified movement across the UK bringing together a range of organisations engaged in tackling FGM
Round 3 will exclusively support activities that:
• reach staff, parents, and/or pupils in educational settings - we are especially keen to support work targeting primary schools, children’s centres, and other early learning settings
• provide support services for survivors of FGM
• are led by, or encourage leadership among, women and girls under the age of 25
In addition, proposals are particularly welcomed that:
• will take place in areas with little coordinated activity aimed at tackling FGM
• target a range of affected communities
• will use and promote rights-based strategies
• will engage diverse sections of the community, e.g. men, religious leaders, young people, older people
