Social Care Opportunity in Manchester as the City develops plans for a Local Care Organisation - seeking expressions of interest

20 Mar 2017 - 09:26 by michelle.foster

Manchester has ambitious and exciting plans to build a Local Care Organisation (LCO): www.manchesterccgs.nhs.uk/the-lco-prospectus. Michael McCourt has now taken up post as Interim Chief Executive for the Manchester Provider Board (MPB). MPB is a group of providers who intend to bid for the Manchester LCO, currently the subject of ISAP review and intended to be open for procurement in the coming months.

It is MPBs intention to put together a winning bid and they are currently recruiting to the Executive Team to lead the way forward. The new team will realise their ambition for a new LCO in Manchester, from successful bid through to building the new organisation.

This is ground breaking work and they are seeking expressions of interest from senior leaders, likely to be presently working at an Executive level, to join the new team. This is a fast moving development however it is critical they get the best team to lead such an important objective for the city and for Greater Manchester.

They are making progress on a number of posts but are now seeking expressions of interest for an individual to join the Executive Team.

Director of Social Care Development
This is a working title for the post as there will be negotiation with the Single Commissioning Organisation (currently recruiting also) to ensure there is no confusion between roles. The post holder will be expected to provide a leadership role for new models of care and integration. The post holder will be expected to help drive innovation and challenge for new ways of providing care and working with communities in Manchester.

This is a great opportunity to build something new from the start which will make a difference to the challenges faced for the health and social opportunity of the communities served. Manchester City Council is making a substantial commitment to the LCO and will include the broadest range possible of social care services and functions.

The level of commitment from the council and the ambition was a key factor in my decision to join the work in Manchester. Michael McCourt thinks this presents one of the best opportunities in England and this will be an exciting challenge for the successful candidate to influence how social care and wider community assets will feature in the work of the LCO.

Michael McCourt is now seeking EOI by a covering note and CV to be sent to [email protected] by the closing date of Monday 20 March 2017. The email should be marked with Director of Social Care Opportunity in the subject line.
