Strictly Wheelchair Dancing Celebrates Donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund

Strictly Wheelchair Dancing, based in Manchester, is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund.

Strictly Wheelchair Dancing is a group of 40 wheelchair users and able-bodied individuals who love to dance. The group meets every Saturday for Social, Latin and Ballroom dancing classes. The group’s motto- “You can do it!” aims to increase members’ confidence in their own ability. Members are also encouraged to work towards national and international competitions and often perform at various events to promote the sport including Health and Disability Awareness Day.

Paula Moulton, Chair of the club, says: “This donation from the GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund couldn’t have come at a better time. It will enable us to pay for our teacher and venue for a month, as well as promoting the group to get more wheelchair users and their friends dancing.”

GALAXY Hot Chocolate is looking to help small, local community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland by donating cash awards to support warm hearted people and projects.

Open for entries until the end of 31 March 2013, the Fund will distribute twenty awards to deserving recipients every month.

Michelle Frost, spokesperson for GALAXY Hot Chocolate explains why the fund was created: “The tough economic climate has meant that many local community groups and charities are finding it hard to make ends meet. Our hope is that the Fund will help support community-minded people and projects across the UK.”
