Trustee Recruitment for The Place at Platt Lane

21 Apr 2016 - 09:50 by michelle.foster

The Place at Platt Lane is looking for trustees with the skills, expertise and enthusiasm to provide strategic direction, supporting the development of the business and helping it on its journey to becoming a sustainable, community-owned asset.

When Fallowfield Library was threatened with closure due to budget cuts, Friends of Fallowfield and One Manchester set up a Charitable Incorporated Organisation to take on the lease. The Place at Platt Lane Board of Trustees developed a vision of creating a vibrant hub in the heart of the community and a local venue of choice for all.

The centre is developing well and has already begun to generate income. It offers a range of opportunities to support learning, skills, employment and wellbeing in addition to a library service. It is this wide-reaching offer Friends of Fallowfield and One Manchester are looking to build on as they move The Place at Platt Lane towards a position of sustainability. To help to achieve this and realise the vision Friends of Fallowfield and One Manchester are particularly looking for people with skills in the following areas:
• Business planning
• Networking and influencing
• Social media and marketing
• Legal and/or Accounting
• Bid writing and funding procurement
• Fundraising
• Community engagement

As a trustee you will be making decisions that will impact on people’s lives, so this is a fantastic opportunity to join the team and make a positive difference to the local community.
