Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) hosted a viewing of Unseen Voices 2: Fairytales from the Edge. The short film has been co-produced by members of the Unseen Voices panel with Badkamra. The project was part of the Greater Manchester Changing Futures programme, which aims to improve outcomes for adults that experience what the system calls multiple disadvantage.
After the film showing participants spoke about the process of creating the film, how their lived experience shaped the project, and how they hope it will be used to improve systems and services across the city region. The Mayor joined the conversation and shared his thoughts on the power of the stories within the film and the changes GMCA are making in line with the Greater Manchester Strategy.
The Greater Manchester Strategy includes key principles of how community-led approaches and putting lived experience at the heart of what we do will bring change for many. The project was an example of this, demonstrating that those with direct experience of challenges are best placed to identify solutions.
