Urgent Invitation: Manchester Provider Board Workshops on The Future of Community Health and Social Care Services in Manchester

7 Jun 2017 - 16:33 by Nigel Rose

The Manchester Provider Board (MPB) is inviting Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector Organisations to attend one of a set of “Future-Search” workshops to discuss the future of community health and social care services in Manchester.

The MPB is a new organisation which includes all of the existing statutory community health and social care providers and this workshop is an opportunity to influence the plans of the organisation right from the beginning. The MPB is bidding to become the Manchester Local Care Organisation, which will run almost all adult and children statutory community health and social care services, starting from spring 2018.

Future-Search is a creative facilitated process that brings together people with a broad and diverse range of views, knowledge and experience to help them find common ground and plan models of services that make the best of limited resources. Each workshop will include staff and volunteers from a wide range of organisations, including GPs, social workers, neighbourhood engagement staff, palliative care staff, nurses, podiatry, physiotherapists, etc. Every workshop will also include an executive member of the MPB.

The initial workshop is 4 hours long and a small number of representatives from each workshop will go on to a 1.5 day Integration Event on 4 and 5th July where the views and ideas that come from the initial workshops will be developed into a comprehensive set of proposals, that will be presented to the MPB Executive team on 10th July and used in planning the work of the MPB.

You can choose to go to one of the 12 neighbourhood workshops or there is 1 city-wide workshop (20 June).

If you are interested in going to one of the workshops, please contact [email protected] with the following information:

  • your name
  • the organisation you work or volunteer for
  • the workshop you would like to attend (see schedule)
  • your potential availability to attend the 1.5 day event on 4/5 July

There will be refreshments, and travel expenses are available if required.
