Following a number of high profile cases, including the Football Abuse scandal, and with increasing public awareness of male sexual violence thanks to programmes such as Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, Survivors Manchester has seen a huge increase in demand for their much needed therapeutic support services and are delighted to be able to seek to appoint a number of new colleagues to their team.
Peer Support Volunteer x 4 – The Safe Room
Hours: 4 hours per week
Expenses: Travel expenses reimbursed

Role:
• To support the ongoing shared hosting of a peer support group, The Safe Room
• To provide the organisation with The Safe Room basic administration
• To challenge the myths and stereotypes that keep many male identified victims/survivors of sexual violence silent
• To break the silence of the sexual violence committed against male identified people
Peer Support Volunteer x 2 – Drop In
Hours: 5 hours per week
Expenses: Travel expenses reimbursed
Benefits: Opportunity to access training: Volunteer Clinical Support
The role:
• To support the facilitation of the Drop In Service
• To provide the Client Services Lead with support of basic Drop in administration duties
• To challenge the myths and stereotypes that keep many male identified victims/survivors of sexual violence silent
• To break the silence of the sexual violence committed against male identified people
Survivors Manchester are actively encouraging applications from male survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation who feel able to work with peers to deliver an important part of the service, actively promoting a healing process.
These posts will include some evenings and some weekends, when required.
The successful applicants will benefit from working with a warm, friendly and supportive team and will undertake challenging and incredibly rewarding work with their brave and inspiring service users. Survivors Manchester works hard to ensure that all survivors are engaged in supporting service delivery and have the right training and ongoing support.
