We are recruiting a Carer Outreach Coordinator (14 hours per week) to join a supportive team who are committed to making life better for Manchester’s unpaid carers. This post is an ideal opportunity for someone who is highly self-organised and who enjoys working in outreach settings getting to know others.
The Accelerating Reform Fund (ARF) is a new initiative which aims to transform social care services, making them more responsive to the needs of the community. It is a national programme, with 42 regions allocated to have their own projects. Greater Manchester is one of the ARF regions. The ARF has a particular focus on unpaid carers, aims to boost short-term breaks for carers and improve hospital discharge processes. This work is made possible by Department for Health and Social Care grants.
We are looking for someone with a good understanding of the needs of unpaid carers and who can show empathy to carers going through difficult times. This is a new role so some involvement in establishing new services, particularly on an outreach basis, would be beneficial. An ability to show initiative is essential.
This role will be split equally across two hospital sites: North Manchester General Hospital and Wythenshawe Hospital, and will form part of a wider project designed to enhance the support to carers offered as part of the hospital discharge process.
Your admin base would be your home address and so all mileage/travel expenses could be claimed from your home address.
This is a permanent position with the current funding for this post for 12 months.
We offer training opportunities, flexible working and a generous leave entitlement.
