We require two experienced Energy Advice Workers to join our Caritas Energy Saving Service to provide energy information, advice and support to households experiencing fuel poverty in deprived communities of Greater Manchester and East Lancashire so that they can:
- Reduce Energy consumption by employment energy-saving measures
- Reduce the cost of their energy bills through being on the right tariff etc
- Improve their mental and physical health and well-being by reducing the effects of fuel poverty
You will deliver information sessions and run advice surgeries in the schools and parishes of Diocese of Salford across Manchester and East Lancashire, including Blackburn, Darwin, Burnley and Hyndburn.
The advice work will be delivered face to face, but this will also include telephone/online sessions as well as home visits. To ensure that the service is available to the whole community, you will work with interpreters (spoken language and British sign language).
The role requires you to have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis, as well as in a team. You must be able to work independently and proactively using your own initiative to conduct the most appropriate decision making for the most positive outcome. Additionally, you will have knowledge of advice work, good IT and administration skills.
A Level 3 City and Guild qualification in Energy Awareness is desirable or a demonstrated willingness to secure this qualification, as there will be the opportunity to secure this qualification in the first two months of employment and Caritas will fund the training.
