Greater Manchester City-Region is supporting the One Tonne Plastic Challenge, a nation-wide initiative being led by Cheshire school boy, Thomas Morgan.
The aim of the challenge is to collect 1 tonne of plastic waste through litter picking to stop plastics from entering the waterways.
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) are calling for all active community groups in the region to come together in their local litter hotspot and help to clean it up, whilst raising awareness of helping to make their environment litter and plastic free.
After 10 weeks of clean-up activity across Greater Manchester, all activity will be collated and totalised with the number of clean-up events, volunteers, hours and bags collected and (fingers crossed) celebrated.
