Making it easy to save money and eat green
Didsbury Dinners provides practical solutions to help people lower their food-carbon footprints. We currently work in Altrincham, Burnage, Chorlton, Didsbury, Withington and surrounds. Our four main projects are:
- Producing and distributing Didsbury Dinners: The Low-Carbon Community Cookbook, and investing the sales proceeds in local food sustainability projects
- Organising an annual Green Food Trail
- Creating more community food gardens, orchards and landshare opportunities
- Teaching people to cook in a way that has a positive benefit on their health, saves them money, and helps the environment. We give priority places to people with below average cookery skills, a small regular income, and low savings.
“The wonderful Didsbury Dinners joined us to plant things in our front garden today. We were ever so grateful for their help.” Learning disabilities charity, L’Arche Manchester
“I love Didsbury Dinners. They continually support and help people and care a great deal about life issues.” Craig Dean
“I can't say enough how much I have enjoyed the ‘learn to cook’ course. I got so sick of family cooking day in, day out. With the same limited range of food it can be almost depressing. The course has totally lit my fire for cooking again and I'm really enjoying it. I've spent more time cooking with the kids. We're eating better food already and I felt we already had a pretty healthy diet. Thanks so much!” Dennis Queen
