Local Grant and Capacity Building Scheme 2013

ECORYS and Department of Health have announced the launch of the fourth Health and Social Care Volunteering Fund (HSCVF) local grant scheme 2013.

What is available?
The fund aims to enhance capacity in the health; public health and social care volunteering field and help organisations grow and develop. This is why HSCVF provides a combination of grant funding and capacity building support to organisations.

Funded organisations must want to take up both elements of the fund:
• A package of support activities to build organisational capacity that will assist with longer term sustainability, as well as
• Financial provision for project activity through grant awards.

The total grant of up to £50,000 is available

The programme is driven by clear strategic priorities in health and care. The design of this fourth local round of HSCVF funding has taken into account the recent operational changes to the NHS and how health / care services are commissioned. The HSCVF local grant and capacity building scheme has been designed to improve the voluntary sector’s potential in the health, public health and social care landscape by helping them to become more sustainable.

Local voluntary sector organisations will be able to make an application and will be asked to apply under one of the following themes:
Theme 1: Increasing User Voice to Improve Quality of Care
Theme 2: Community Based Health and Care Interventions
Theme 3: Improving Public Health through Prevention and Risk Reduction
Theme 4: Improving Management of Chronic and Long Term Conditions
Theme 5: Building Capable Communities

Projects must have a clear focus on how they would support and drive forward new ideas in delivering services to communities that add value to existing local statutory services and local health and social care provision. The fund seeks projects that have something special to offer over existing services, and demonstrate potential to develop new and / or streamlined systems in health, public health and social care volunteering.

To apply organisations must register by 19 July 2013. Eligible organisations will then be able to submit an application through the online application portal, which will close on 31 July 2013.
