For over 10 years NCVO has built connections with organisations across Japan, where civil society has been playing an increasingly important role in public service delivery.
NCVO have a long-standing partnership with the Japan Association of Charitable Organisations (JACO), working together to create new opportunities for professionals and organisations from both countries.
NCVO are particularly excited about the Young Core Leaders of Civil Society Groups, held in partnership with the Japanese Centre for International Youth Exchange. Together, they help young leaders from specific backgrounds to promote a mutual exchange of knowledge and experience.
This programme enables emerging leaders of civil society to learn from each other’s practical experience and develop their professional skills through a fully funded 15 day trip to the respective countries. Each year focuses on a new theme, and young leaders are selected from these areas of civil society; the theme for the 2013-14 programme will be youth.
You can now apply for the 2014 UK to Japan programme – there is an upper age limit of 40.
NCVO are looking for 13 people from UK youth organisations to take part in the second half of this exchange.
For further information and to see if you are eligible, read the Japan programme information sheet and application form, here: www.ncvo.org.uk/images/documents/policy_and_research/international/japan_exchange_october_2013.pdf
