For over 30 years PRAGMA, an independent charity, now part of the Age Concern Manchester group of charities, has run short courses to help prepare people for their retirement. The courses examine some of the major changes and challenges that are often brought about when someone leaves paid work.
PRAGMA have a team of specialist tutors who provide information about: taxes in retirement, financial planning, state benefits, wills, trusts, power of attorney, volunteering, maintaining good physical and mental health, concessions and relationships.
PRAGMA also provide on-going support to course members as they adjust to retired life. A free information and advice telephone service is available and throughout the year we organise a number of free events and workshops.
PRAGMA’s aim is to prepare people for later life and to help them plan for a fulfilling, secure and happy retirement.
Through the generosity of a local trust fund they have a number of free places available on their next two day course which runs on February 11 and 12 2014 . The normal charge for the course is £125. The criteria for a free place are not hard and fast but priority will be given to small employers and people who are currently unemployed.
