Services for Victims of Rape and Sexual Assault - call for evidence on what works

From April 2015, Tony Lloyd the Police and Crime Commissioner for Greater Manchester will take on new responsibilities for the commissioning of services for victims of crime and seek to ensure that there is a whole system approach that puts victims squarely at the centre. One vital element of that change relates to the commissioning of services for victims of rape and sexual assault.

Working on behalf of the Greater Manchester Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner’ New Economy is seeking the input of all partners to inform a discussion around what works for victims of rape and sexual assault.

The attached document outlines a call for evidence that is seeking information about the current services and interventions, how effective they are, and how to build on strengths to make further improvements to existing arrangements.

It is intended that the information will help build the best possible picture of current provision, pinpoint gaps in local services, and pool in one place local evidence on ‘what works’, wider evidence from academic studies, and learning/latest innovation in other areas. If the Police and Crime Commissioner is to invest in these services, there is a need to understand what works, for whom and how.

This is only the first stage of the call for evidence and that any information that you can provide will be valuable in adding to the current understanding.
