Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner - Volunteer Opportunities

Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd is recruiting for volunteer Appropriate Adults and Independent Custody Visitors across Greater Manchester. They are especially interested in hearing from applicants from black and minority ethnic groups.

Appropriate Adults
Appropriate adults provide support and guidance to young and vulnerable people who have been arrested and have no parent or carer to call on.

Independent Custody Visitors
Independent custody visitors make random visits, in pairs, to police stations, to check on the welfare of the people who are in police custody.

Without people willing to give up their time, these important services wouldn’t be able to be provided. So if you’ve got a little time to spare, and want to make a difference, apply to become a volunteer on behalf of the police and crime commissioner for Greater Manchester

Full training will be given and you will need undertake police vetting.

Interviews will be held mid-August and induction training mid- September.
