Odd Arts is an innovative, creative and ethical organisation, using theatre and the arts to transform lives, predominantly within the criminal justice arena. Odd Arts are looking for a passionate and experienced individual to become a Trustee of their charity at a time of real growth and excitement. Odd Arts are currently under-represented by BAME individuals within their Board and are keen to build a whole organisation that reflects the society they live and work with.
Odd Arts are particularly interested in people with experience in: Prisons; Arts; Youth; Social Justice. However, are happy to receive applications from individuals with experience in other sectors.
Remuneration: The role of the Trustee is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although expenses for travel may be claimed
Time commitment: Four Board meetings per year. The Trustee may be expected to attend some additional sub-group meetings.
Objective
The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, developing the organisations aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
• To ensure that the charity and its representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework of the sector and in line with the organisations’ governing document, continually striving for best practice in governance
• To determine the overall direction and development of the charity through good governance and clear strategic planning
• Continually striving for best practice in Governance that adds to public trust and confidence in the charity
• To ensure Odd Arts fulfils the objectives outlined within its constitution
Main Duties
• Ensuring the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements, and acts
• within the confines of its governing document
• Acting in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries and future beneficiaries at all times
• Promoting and developing the charity in order for it to grow and maintain its relevance to society
• Maintaining sound financial management of the charity’s resources
• Interviewing, appointing and monitoring the work and activities of the senior paid staff
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources
• To maintain absolute confidentiality about all sensitive/confidential information received in the course of trustee’s responsibilities to the charity
