Food Response Infrastructure small grants scheme

Manchester City Council are committed to resourcing sustainable community-based food provision, with priority given to the 11 wards that have been identified as those that are likely to be most fundingaffected by the ‘Cost-of-Living Crisis’. It has been agreed that each of these Wards has been given a small grants funding pot of £10,000 through the Our Manchester Food Partnership, in partnership with Neighbourhood Teams.

The eligible wards are:

  • Harpurhey    
  • Miles Platting and Newton Heath    
  • Clayton and Openshaw    
  • Sharston    
  • Woodhouse Park    
  • Cheetham    
  • Crumpsall    
  • Gorton and Abbey Hey    
  • Longsight    
  • Moss Side    
  • Levenshulme

An additional £40,000 will be also made available for applications from multi-ward / city-wide food support providers.

Who can apply
Organisations providing food support in communities within Manchester City Council boundaries.

What it can pay for

  • White goods
  • Furniture and fittings (e.g. shelving, counters)
  • Memberships (e.g. annual Fareshare fees)
  • Staff / volunteer training (e.g. Food hygiene certificates)
  • Other one-off infrastructure purchases
  • What it can’t pay for
  • Staffing Costs
  • Stock
  • Building / maintenance costs
  • Promotional / advertising material
  • Core costs or expenses
