GMCA is commissioning for the Rough Sleeper Accommodation Programme

The Rough Sleeper Accommodation Programme (RSAP) was introduced in 2020 by the Government to support 6000 rough sleepers into long term accommodation. The programme provided capital fundingfunding to deliver additional move-on properties for individuals who experienced rough sleeping and revenue to provide support to the move-on properties.

Cornerstone's new service

Cornerstone are providing a Homelessness Prevention Drop-in, Monday to Friday, 10am-12pm including showers (10 am-2.30pm) a free Community Lunch, Monday to Friday, 12pm-1.30pm.

Come in to find out about volunteering opportunities, activities and visiting agencies that provide specialist advice and support, including: Housing Advice, Tenancy Support, Benefits Advice, Drug/Alcohol support, Opticians, GP and Nurse.

Booth Centre Sleepout 2021

booth centre sleepoutJoin the Booth Centre on Friday 12 November to raise vital funds and awareness to support people who are homeless in our community. The sleep out is for one night only, to support others who have to night after night in the location of choice – home, garden, balcony, workplace, community setting.

Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is consulting on a new Greater Manchester Homelessness Prevention Strategy

gmcaHomelessness in all forms has increased in Greater Manchester since 2010 and tackling homelessness and rough sleeping is a key priority for GMCA and organisations across Greater Manchester.

A number of initiatives are already in place in Greater Manchester to help reduce homelessness and rough sleeping, including Housing First, the Entrenched Rough Sleeper Social Impact Bond and A Bed Every Night.

Producing Art Together: Booth Centre Arts workshop

booth centreOn Thursday 25 February at 12pm the Booth Centre will launch their Arts Programme for 2021/2022. Join the Booth Centre for a workshop that will explore the idea of developing arts programmes which have the full involvement of people who have experience of homelessness. This workshop will look at what’s possible, what the opportunities are, what the barriers are and how these can be overcome.

Manchester's pledge to improve representation of homelessness in the media

pledgeThe causes of homelessness are complex and often are the result of structural factors. Without public understanding of the extent of homelessness in the UK and the myriad of causes, the sensationalised approach often seen in the media has a damaging impact and slows down the institutional reform that is needed for change.

Baubles 4 Beds: charity fundraiser for homeless charities in Manchester

baublesBaubles 4 Beds is a fundraising event using Papier Mache to make Christmas tree baubles and then using them to help raise funds for Manchester Homeless. This is a Frank Dowd art project and the sale of these baubles will be split between Coffee4Craig, Barnabus and Mustard Tree.

People across Greater Manchester are being encouraged to help make baubles to raise money for the three local charities.
