Problem-Solving Courts for Women: What the evidence tells us

Following the publication of the Independent Sentencing Review’s final report, the Government is now expected to expand the provision of women’s problem-solving courts (WPSC), otherwise known as Intensive Supervision Courts. Given this context, this latest evidence review explores the evolution of the evidence-base on the effectiveness of WPSCs, both in the UK and internationally.  

Authored by Dr Sarah Waite and Dr Alexandria Bradley, the review covers: 

• The broader context of problem-solving courts internationally and in the UK
• The evolution and current state of WPSC in the UK
• The critical success factors for the design and delivery of WPSC which support women, help them to address their needs and move away from the criminal justice system
• Concrete advice on best practice for voluntary sector organisations looking to get involved in WPSC
