What makes up the spirit of Manchester?

We are holding a photography competition on what makes the spirit of the city. Upload your photo highlighting the communities across the city, the great work and community spirit. The top 10 photos will be printed and exhibited at 5 events across Manchester. You will be invited to attend one of these celebration events which will be screening of films highlighting the spirit of the city.

Grant to train frontline workers on Honour Based Violence awareness

Manchester City Council has £10,000 to deliver training in Honour Based Violence (HBV) awareness for Early Help Hub staff and Social Work teams. The full funding of £10,000 will be awarded to one successful applicant to provide a training programme for frontline workers. The programme will need to be delivered to all Early Help Hub staff and Social Work teams in venues arranged by the provider. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver the training programme between January 2017 and March 2017.

Grant to help raise awareness of Female Genital Mutilation in the Community

Manchester City Council has £10,000 to raise awareness in Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) to communities in Manchester. The full funding of £10,000 will be awarded to one successful applicant to provide an engagement programme for the community. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver the programme between January 2017 and March 2017.

Volunteering is a hobby or pastime enjoyed by millions of people all over the world and here at Volunteer Centre Manchester (VCM) we hold volunteer inductions every week with budding volunteers. The inductions are a good opportunity for VCM and volunteers to connect, discuss the mix of volunteering opportunities available, chat about what volunteers can expect from organisations and the Volunteer Centre, and to answer any questions volunteers have on the subject.

Grant applications open for Hate Crime Awareness Week 2017

Manchester is an eclectic and welcoming city and for many years which has been tackling the causes of inequality and demonstrating the benefits of diverse and cohesive communities. Manchester City Council recognises that community cohesion does not happen by itself – it is driven by people making an effort to support one another in their communities and neighbourhoods. They want to build on this by holding events and activities throughout their annual Hate Crime Awareness Week 2017. You can help do this by holding an event or activity in your neighbourhood.

Our Manchester: Complete our survey of assets used by people with learning disabilities

Recent conversations with people with a learning disability have highlighted the difficulties they can experience in finding out what services and activities are available in their local area. We would like to make this easier so in partnership with Breakthrough UK, Macc are conducting a stocktake of assets used by people with a learning disability in Manchester.

Our Manchester VCSE Funding Co-Design Group

The third meeting of the co-design group was held on Tuesday 1st November. It began with presentations focusing on examples of approaches to procurement including; setting up a separate organisation to do it - Manchester Youth Trust; crowd funding; and models from Camden and Bristol. The group then discussed the examples and began to develop a range of models.
