Description

Tutor Trust

At Tutor Trust, we believe that every child deserves access to an education that provides excellence, equity and opportunity.

Tutor Trust is an award-winning charity founded in Manchester in 2011, with a mission to transform lives through tutoring. By providing great tutors to children from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds in the North of England, we help to close the attainment gap between young people from low-income families and their wealthier peers.

If, like us, you care about making a change to combat inequality in education, you can choose to make a difference. A gift from you will allow our tutors to reach more young people who need our support. By supporting today, you could help to improve a child’s confidence, as well as their progress and attainment.

Tutor Trust is unique as a tutoring charity. Our model has proven impact, supported by the positive outcomes of two independent randomised controlled trials- considered the gold standard of evidence, funded by the EEF. Our RCTs speak to the effectiveness of our tutoring in building relationships as well as its impact on attainment. The outcomes of these impact studies show that tutoring helps young people from underserved communities to make measurable and accelerated academic progress.

Manchester Libraries Trust

Books for Christmas!

Manchester Libraries Trust, the charity that supports archives, educational and cultural activity in Manchester Libraries has launched a new Christmas book gifting appeal Books for Christmas 2025 - JustGiving

More than a quarter of pupils in Manchester leave primary school unable to read well. The appeal will help Read Manchester and Manchester Libraries gift books to local children who need them most.  All children need and deserve to own new books. At this time, when we know many parents cannot afford more expense, it is crucial that we support the most vulnerable local children. Working together, we can ensure that we are reaching local children and families where free new books can really improve their lives.

If you can, please support the appeal this Christmas: Books for Christmas 2025 - JustGiving

Spark Oldham

Spark Oldham is a non-profit Community Interest Company driven by a passion to support people at all stages of their life. We run a number of programmes to encourage people to thrive and not just survive. We operate on a people and community-first approach and develop programmes that suit the needs of the people we’re supporting. We have 3 main values which underpin everything that we do:

  • Improving Health and Wellbeing

  • Inspiring Through Volunteering

  • Investing In Our Young People, Children and Families.

We are passionate about giving people the tools to be able to live a better life and being able to get to the root cause of what the issues people may face rather then trying to fix the 'problem'

Here is our website www.sparkoldham.co.uk but we would be keen to meet to tell you more about us and how you can get involved in our work.

Help our Christmas appeal as we support over 1,000 children this year, we are asking if people can support our Christmas Campaign in a number of ways:

Lifeshare

Volunteer with us this Christmas

Do you want to give back to the community this holiday season? Why not volunteer with Lifeshare? Lifeshare runs Manchester’s only 10-day indoor support for rough sleepers, those in food and fuel poverty, and those suffering from social isolation. We provide hot meals, dry clothes, warm showers, support services, and festive cheer!

This year the project will take place at the Mosaic Wellbeing Hub, 2 Dale St, Manchester M1 1JW.

We are open from December 22nd-26th from 7am-7pm and we need volunteers to help make our work happen! All new volunteers must attend an induction on 6th December, as well as their chosen shifts over Christmas, so please ensure you plan ahead. We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of two shifts. Volunteers can apply through our volunteering platform linked below. Once you have registered you will be contacted by our team with your next steps.

All shifts are first-come first-served so any shifts available will be listed. If a shift is not listed this means it is fully booked. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day book quickly so there is a chance you may not be able to work those days, however, we encourage you to consider volunteering on one of our other days. The guests we serve need your support just as much on December 26th and we appreciate each and every shift equally!

Donate a Meal

Lifeshare primarily work with rough sleepers and those in food and fuel poverty throughout the year, we are seeing those numbers rise week on week but at Christmas we open to anyone in need of a warm place to spend the day, a hot shower, dry clothes, a fresh meal, or a friendly face. Last year we served 3000+ meals. We are projecting to add over 1000 to this number in 2025 so your help will make a real difference to help us feed these people. You can click on the button below and share a Christmas Meal with someone in need.

Christmas costs are rising, as we’re sure everyone understands. Each weekend throughout 2025 we’ve seen more and more guests come for a hot meal.  We expect numbers to increase this Christmas as well.  If you have something to spare we are asking for your help to fund our Christmas Meals.

Just one Christmas meal including all the support will cost is £11.50 this year. We know times are tough so not everyone will be able to afford it, but if it fits within your finances please consider donating a meal to someone in need.

Ready4Home

Ready4Home provides accommodation, care and support to clients in the Greater Manchester and Lancashire areas who are currently facing homelessness and need support to regain their independence.
