Description of the opportunity:

The Widows Empowerment Trust’s mission against loneliness needs your help!

Widows are at a significantly increased risk of developing negative health effects following a bereavement, including a higher risk of stroke, cardiovascular disease and early mortality. To combat this, The Widows Empowerment Trust offers befriending services, wellbeing workshops and a range of projects to support people living in Manchester who have suffered a significant loss. Majority of our service users are over the age of 50 which can exacerbate the detrimental effect that grief can have on physical and emotional wellbeing. Many experiencing bereavement can lose a sense of community and the motivation to invest in their health.

We need your help to provide counselling to people living in Manchester who have experienced bereavement.

Requirements:

  • Proof of completion of a counselling course through any certification

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Providing monthly counselling sessions to interested service-users for up to 6 sessions
  • Tailored session planning outside of sessions
  • Access to and use of appropriate resources for counselling sessions
  • Empathic and non-judgemental approach
  • Openness and awareness to grief in a variety of cultures
  • Competency with Data Protection Laws
