Description of the opportunity:

If you’re a keen gardener, novice, or simply someone who enjoys being active outdoors, then this could be the volunteering opportunity for you. We run volunteering sessions twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March to October.

You will join our volunteer coordinator, Grace, out in the gardens for a few hours helping out with day-to-day gardening activities. This could be weeding, pruning, planting, watering; there’s always plenty of different jobs to do in the NOMA gardens. We focus on sustainable, wildlife-friendly gardening techniques and we’re very open to ideas from our volunteers about how to improve the gardens for the community.

Volunteering with us is a great chance to develop new practical skills, practice old ones, and potentially gain gardening experience for a new career if that interests you. Being outdoors in nature is really beneficial for our mental and physical wellbeing and the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded people in a relaxed environment.

Taking part in some urban greening is also a great way to give back to the local community by making these shared spaces better for both people and wildlife.

If you'd like to get involved, please apply via our general volunteering application form on our website or send an expression of interest form, and our volunteer coordinator will get back to you.

There is no minimum commitment for our volunteering here; we welcome any time that you’re willing to offer.

Disclaimer: This work is physical in nature and requires a basic level of fitness and mobility. If you’re unsure, please feel free to reach out, and we can advise. This opportunity is for over 18s only.
