Who we are:
Stitched Up is a not-for-profit inspiring communities across Greater Manchester to take action on sustainable fashion.
We currently run a public programme of sewing, mending and upcycling workshops as well as volunteering opportunities and events like talks and film screenings.
We also bring our workshops, events and projects to locations across Greater Manchester, in partnership with charities and groups doing brilliant work to support vulnerable people, young people and more.
What are we looking for?
You don't need any prior gardening experience, just a willingness to have a go. You don't need to attend every week and can just drop in and do as much as you're able. Even if you just live locally and are up for doing a bit of watering every now and again once we've got plants growing, that would be great!
What would you be doing as a volunteer?
We are currently collaborating with Friends of Victoria Park Stretford to create a natural dye garden in the heart of Stretford. Over the next four years we’ll be establishing an open-access natural dye garden in Victoria Park, to grow plants that can then be turned into natural dyes, available to be used by everyone - come help us!
We're currently running twice weekly volunteer gardening sessions at Victoria Park, Stretford on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Come join a great group of volunteers to dig, weed, water, and plant the dye garden.
We are also running social, creative and community workshops if you'd like to help us out with this side of the project. You can get involved by helping us prep for and run these events and workshops. You don't need to be an expert in natural dyeing or even know what it is to help out - the idea is to make natural dyeing accessible to everyone.
If you're interested please sign up and we'll get in touch.
