Who we are:
Contact is a charity providing accommodation and practical support for homeless teenage girls from the Manchester area. We have helped nearly 1000 young women get back on their feet, and help them move onto better, happier futures.
Are you a friendly and reliable individual who wants to make a real difference? We need your help to raise vital funds for Contact Hostel and elevate our presence within the local community. This volunteer role offers the perfect blend of flexibility and purpose, allowing you to contribute around your existing work or family commitments.
What would you be doing as a volunteer?
As a Volunteer Fundraiser, you'll have the opportunity to engage with your local community by placing and collecting collection tins, distributing posters, and building relationships with businesses to support our cause. Your efforts will directly contribute to providing a safe home for vulnerable teenage girls in Manchester. We may also request your support at local fundraising events and occasions.
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking passionate individuals in and around Manchester, particularly in the Whalley Range/Chorlton area, who share our commitment to supporting those in need. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or looking to start your journey, we want to hear from you! All you need is access to transportation, good organisational skills and a heart for helping others.
Practical Considerations:
Volunteers should be confident communicators with a good knowledge of their local area, as well as the ability to travel either with your own vehicle or strong public transport links. Don't worry if you're new to fundraising – we'll provide you with all the support you need to succeed!
In this role you’ll be:
- Using your local knowledge, talk to local business owners about placing tins at their locations
- Regularly visit and swap full tins for empty ones
- Visit Contact Hostel to count and bank donations alongside our Fundraising & Income Partner, completing all necessary paperwork.
- Using ‘Thank you’ certificates to let the sites know how much has been collected.
- The role also includes occasional requests for ad-hoc support at events.
Your support will provide a lifeline for vulnerable teenage girls facing homelessness, offering them a safe and nurturing environment at Contact Hostel. Together we can make a profound impact on the lives of these young women, ensuring they have the support and resources they need to thrive.
