Who we are:

Carers Manchester is looking for people to support our groups and events. As part of our partnership with The Halle, we offer free concerts for carers at The Bridgewater Hall. Volunteers support us to organise the event and they also attend on the day to warmly welcome carers and encourage them to take time out and enjoy some beautiful live music.

What are we looking for?

As a Carers Manchester Events Volunteer, you’ll make sure that everyone has a great time and can make the most of the activities on offer. You’ll need lots of energy, a warm and welcoming personality and to be happy getting stuck into a wide range of tasks and activities, all of which make sure that everyone has the best day they can together.

Will the role suit me? Yes, if you are:

  • Warm, friendly and confident to meet and spend time with new people.
  • Willing to develop the knowledge and skills to communicate information to carers over the telephone.
  • Able to work well in a team and be flexible about the role you play during the day depending on what’s needed.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Committed and passionate about supporting carers to take some time out for themselves.

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

You know when an unpaid carer needs to take a break from their caring role to unwind and relax? Well, what we do is work with The Halle and the Bridgewater Hall to offer free monthly concerts for carers. In fact, we arrange around 8 trips to the Halle every year and these are attended by up to 25 carers. Carers Manchester are looking for people to support the smooth running of these events.

Your role will depend on your availability. This could include helping to organise the events by developing publicity materials and calling carers who have enquired about the event.

Other volunteers choose to support us at the event itself. This includes:

  • Welcoming carers and encouraging them to take time out and enjoy some beautiful live music.
  • Registering carers who attend.
  • Supporting carers to find their way around the building.
  • Being a friendly face, chatting to carers during the interval.

Your Time
We have concerts taking place on Thursday evenings at the Bridgewater Hall. Volunteers will need to be available to from 5.15pm and the concert finishes at 7.30pm.

We also have concerts taking place on Sunday afternoons. Volunteers will need to be available from 1.30pm and the concert finishes at 4.30pm.

Our Halle Orchestra Events begin in September 2024 and run through to May 2025.

What can Carers Manchester offer me as a volunteer?

  • Induction information to prepare you for your role, a briefing at the start of each event, and lots of on-site support and guidance from our experienced staff team who will be running the day.
  • Agreed out of pocket expenses to be reimbursed, in line with Carer’s Manchester policy.
  • The chance to get to know new people, try new activities in your local community and to have fun taking part together.
  • To develop new skills and knowledge about communicating and working with adult carers in Manchester.
  • A ticket to the concert.
  • The satisfaction of knowing you will be supporting those who spend a lot of time supporting others to take a well-earned break.
