Who we are

Yellow Bird Age Friendly Group are a community group based in Hulme who support anyone feeling isolated or lonely. 

We run a weekly activities group on Thursday mornings to chat and socialise. Other activities also include chair based exercises, painting, making cards - anything to stimulate the mind and the hands.

As well as our weekly groups, we also go on fun or educational trips out. For example, we have recently been to the history museum in Liverpool. 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who likes talking to older people, and has basic communication skills. If you are down to earth and like a chat, with good interpersonal skills, this role is for you. 

We are open to anyone, and if you do have a carer we are happy to have you volunteer if the carer comes along with you. We cater to volunteers with different mobility as well. 

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

In this role you would be: 

• Helping to set up for the weekly group
• Helping with running the groups, as well as chatting to the participants 
• Helping ut with any activities planned (or thinking of your own!) 
• Helping organise and bring the group on trips 
• Generally supporting the group

The group takes place once a week on a Thursday morning, usually between 10:30 and 2 (roughly). It is in The Church of Prophecy community space in Moss Side near the Powerhouse. 

We can pay your travel expenses.
