Description of the opportunity:

– Who we are –

All foodbank clients come to our sessions to pick up their emergency food parcel. Our volunteers are the life blood of these sessions, and we could not operate without them. Staff oversee the sessions and deal with client enquiries, but volunteers  talk to clients about parcel contents, and pack the parcel according to client needs.

– What are we looking for? –

We are looking for volunteers who are good with people, confident, approachable, empathetic, patient.

– What would you be doing as a volunteer? –

Volunteers wear foodbank tabards and have a big donation bin at the entrance of the supermarket. They hand out leaflets which highlight the items we need most with a friendly smile then shoppers can look at what we need and pop a tin of food in our donation bin as they leave. We have a Christmas donation drive at Tesco Gorton from Thursday November 27 to Saturday November 29. Morning sessions are from 9.30am to 1pm and afternoon sessions are from 1pm to 4.30pm.
