Description of the opportunity:

Who we are:

St. Marks Graveyard is a historic cemetery founded in 1794. 'As early as 1790 the enterprising Charles Ethelston, the founder Minister of St Paul's, Turner Street, obtained a concession from the Warden and Fellows to erect, at his own expense, a Chapel of Ease to serve the large area of no-man's land between the ancient Parish Churches of Manchester and Prestwich. This chapel, which became St Mark's, Cheetham was built amongst the cotton merchants' houses which formed that desirable hamlet. The chapel was consecrated on 24th July 1794. Help restore this graveyard back to it's former glory.

What are we looking for?

Help needed to clear and stack branches, brambles and undergrowth as we continue our clearance of this overgrown cemetery

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

This will be our third working party as we continue our efforts to clear the undergrowth and rubbish from St Mark's Historic Graveyard. We will have some new, heavy-duty equipment at our disposal, but we still need volunteers to remove the debris and clear the ground as we proceed.
