Who we are:

We're Stitched Up Community Benefit Society, a small a Not-for-Profit with the aim of inspiring action on sustainable fashion. We set up the first Manchester Repair Cafe in Chorlton and since then have run the Stretford Repair Cafe and re-established the Chorlton Repair Cafe (which had to close over Covid), both of which have been successfully passed onto local community groups. We're very excited to be setting up the first North Manchester Repair Cafe as we believe locally-run Repair Cafes are an amazing way for people to learn more about the everyday items in their homes that often end up in landfill. What are we looking for?

We need fixers of all kinds (electronics, bikes, mechanical, textiles etc...), general helpers, fundraisers and organisers - there's a role for everyone!

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

A Repair Cafe is a free monthly event, where people meet to share mending skills and hopefully save household items from landfill. You can find out more about them here: https://www.repaircafe.org/en/

Visitors can bring along broken or damaged items and will work with a volunteer (maybe you!) to try to fix the item and hopefully give it another lease of life. It's a great place to develop, learn and share skills as well as meet like-minded people, develop work experience and help your neighbours save money whilst helping the environment.

When: The Repair Cafe runs on the last Saturday of every month 10 - 12pm (starting from February 2025). We ask that volunteers arrive 30 mins early and stay after for set up and pack down (9:30am - 12:30) to allow for time for set up.
