Who we are:
Citizens Advice is a local charity based in Wigan, Leigh and Makerfield providing free, confidential and independent advice to people on their problems.
What are we looking for?
- Be friendly and approachable
- Be non-judgemental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
- Have good listening , verbal and written communication skills.
- Have good maths and IT skills
- Be able to understand information and explain it to others
- Be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection
- Be willing to undertake training in your role
What would you be doing as a volunteer?
You will play a crucial role in helping individuals navigate through challenges and make informed decisions to achieve their goals. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, and be responsible for understanding their unique needs and circumstances. We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about helping others, have good interpersonal skills and are willing to learn new skills. You will:
- Talk to clients to explore what problems they've come for help with.
- Find information about the clients' problems and help them to understand their options.
- Write a summary of the clients' problems and what action you've taken.
Please note that this is a volunteer position and no pay will be provided, however reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a volunteer role whilst making a difference in the community.
