Who we are:
Family Action is a national charity committed to supporting families across the UK to thrive. In Manchester, we run a range of community-based services including the Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC) programme – a pioneering parenting initiative delivered by parents, for parents.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for volunteer Parent Group Leaders to join our EPEC programme. If you're passionate about parenting, want to support others in your community, and are available to co-deliver parenting sessions in Wythenshawe or Gorton, we’d love to hear from you. No formal qualifications needed – just enthusiasm, commitment, and a desire to make a difference.
What would you be doing as a volunteer?
Completing accredited training with the EPEC team
Co-delivering a 9-week Being a Parent course alongside another trained parent
Supporting group discussions and delivering creative activities
Helping set up, prepare, and run group sessions
Feeding back experiences to help shape the programme
Supporting parents in a safe, inclusive, and empowering way
The role is for approximately 5 hours a week, for at least 6 months. Sessions typically take place in local family hubs on Friday mornings, with opportunities to volunteer elsewhere depending on demand.
