Who we are

Rainbow Haven is a community centre in Gorton providing support, activities, and friendship for refugees, migrants, and people seeking asylum. Our weekly drop-in service offers advice, community, and a hot meal in a safe, welcoming space.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for reliable and friendly volunteers to help in our busy kitchen. You don’t need professional catering experience – home cooking skills and a willingness to muck in are more than enough. Volunteers should be comfortable working in a diverse environment with people from many different cultures and backgrounds.

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

As a Kitchen Assistant Volunteer, you will:

Prepare and chop ingredients

Help cook and serve meals

Wash up and keep the kitchen clean and tidy

Restock and organise the tea area

Support the smooth running of the kitchen alongside staff and other volunteers

When: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9.45am – 2.30pm (with lunch at 12.30pm)
Where: Rainbow Haven, 113 Abbey Hey Lane, Gorton, M18 8TJ
