About Venture Arts:
Venture Arts is an award-winning visual arts organisation working with learning-disabled artists. Through our studio programmes, exhibitions and collaborative projects, we remove barriers to the arts, put artists in the lead, champion neurodiversity and provide pathways for every individual to develop their creative identity. Venture Arts equip people to succeed as artists, advocates, cultural workers, educators, curators and critics.
Volunteer Role Opportunity:
This role requires committing to volunteering for a weekly visual arts session. As a volunteer you are usually allocated one art session per week. We ask for a minimum commitment of 2 months.
The role involves:
- Assisting the Facilitators in visual arts sessions.
- Supporting people with learning disabilities to reach their potential, increasing creative skills, social skills, confidence and wellbeing.
- Accompanying artists on field trips.
- Helping to clear up after studio sessions and supporting artists to tidy up.
Due to the nature of our studio sessions and artists, we require our volunteers to:
- Be fluent in English and comfortable in speaking with artists throughout sessions.
- Be able to deal with and adapt to changes such as staffing, artists and location.
- Be comfortable with being in a busy art studio.
- Be able and willing to take instruction from lead facilitation staff as part of a team.
- Have a bright, positive, caring and patient personality.
- Have a reliable and trustworthy approach and able to deal with matters of a confidential nature.
- Have a commitment to inclusion within the arts.
- Live within the Greater Manchester area.
- Undertake a DBS check with us before starting. You must not be barred from working with vulnerable adults, young people or children.
