One Million Mentors is looking for volunteer mentors to support young people in schools and colleges across Greater Manchester - At One Million Mentors, our goal is to support young people in their next steps after school and college, to help them achieve their career goals, dreams and aspirations and we want you to be part of this life changing opportunity. About the Role

We run monthly mentoring sessions at schools and colleges, helping young people:

• Build confidence
• Recognise the skills and strengths they already have
• Explore and understand the career paths open to them

Some mentees already have a career area in mind and want hands-on, practical advice from someone working in that field. Others aren't sure yet what direction to take, and that's just as valuable, because you'll help them figure it out. Either way, this role is all about supporting young people with jobs, employment, and future careers.

What You'll Be Doing

• Attending one mentoring session per month at one of our partner institutions
• Session length: One Hour
• Format: One-to-One
• Sharing insight into your own career journey and industry, where relevant
• Helping mentees identify their strengths, interests, and potential paths forward
• Full induction and training provided

Where You'll Be Mentoring

We currently have opportunities at the following institutions:

• Eden Girls Leadership Academy
• Eden Boys Leadership Academy
• Burnage Academy for Boys
• Chorlton High School
• EdStart School Salford (This is a SEND school, so experience working with SEND young people is essential)

What We're Looking For

• Anyone age 22 and above with one hour time to commit each month
• No specific career background required. Mentors from all industries and experience levels are welcome
• Good listening skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people
• Willingness to undergo a DBS/background check
• We’d particularly like to hear from adults with SEND experience for our EdStart Salford partner.
