Caritas Shrewsbury is looking for friendly and enthusiastic football volunteers to support our weekly football sessions in Fallowfield.
The sessions are for refugees and people seeking asylum living in Manchester. They provide a welcoming space for people to get active, meet others and enjoy playing football together.
We already have a qualified coach who leads the sessions, so you do not need to have coaching qualifications or previous coaching experience. We are looking for people who enjoy football and would like to get involved, support participants and help create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
Volunteers may help by:
- Joining in with games and activities
- Welcoming new participants and helping them feel comfortable
- Encouraging and supporting players during the session
- Helping the coach with activities and equipment
- Getting involved in games where appropriate
- Chatting with participants and helping build positive relationships
- Helping to make the sessions enjoyable and inclusive for everyone
You do not need to be an expert footballer. Whether you currently play, used to play, or simply have a strong interest in football, we would be happy to hear from you.
This is a great opportunity to use your interest in football to support refugees and people seeking asylum, meet people from different backgrounds and contribute to a welcoming community activity.
Volunteers will need to complete Caritas Shrewsbury's volunteer registration process, including the appropriate safeguarding checks.
