360Giving and our latest data sets

Our latest data sets on our work with voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations and volunteers is now available on our website here: www.manchestercommunitycentral.org/policy-and-influence/open-data

Last week we hosted an exciting information session with 360Giving (www.threesixtygiving.org), whose mission is to support organisations to publish their grants data in an open, standardised way and help people to understand and use the data in order to support decision-making and learning across the charitable giving sector.

Attendees at the information session included The Big Lottery Fund, BBC Children in Need, Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioners Office who came along to find out more about 360Giving and for a demonstration on GrantNav. The Big Lottery Fund and BBC Children in Need currently publish their grants data to the 360Giving standard.

360Giving is focusing on three goals: to support more grantmakers to publish their grants data in an open, accessible and standardised way; to build an evidence base about how open grants data can be used for better decision-making and learning; and to develop tools that help people to understand and use the data. GrantNav, the first platform to bring together the data published using the 360Giving standard, making it easy to view and explore, will be launched in autumn 2016.
