Data – who knew it could be interesting!

23 Oct 2014 - 12:25 by michelle.foster

Wikipedia defines Open data as ‘…the idea that certain data should be freely available to everyone to use and republish as they wish, without restrictions from copyright, patents or other mechanisms of control.’

So in plain English we have published data which you can use for whatever you like!

We’ve very pleased to be releasing our data on groups on our database, volunteers that are registered with us and grants awarded through our Reducing Social Isolation grants programme.

What can you find?
You can find the number of groups registered on our database and the ward which they are based in, their annual income and equalities focussed.

On the volunteering spreadsheet you can find how many are registered with us, where they are based and their gender.

The grants spreadsheet will show you who’s been awarded a grant, how much they’re received and the ward and clinical commissioning group area they are based in.

What can you do with the data?
Whatever you like!

• You could view the data to gather a better understanding of the groups and volunteers we work with
• You could republish the data on your website
• This is where things get interesting you could combine the data sets with other data sets that are available and the data could provide you with new insights

We’re committed to being transparent
We are committed to providing open data and transparency. We are making the non-personal information we hold on our database freely available to everyone in a format that can be reused. Please read our Open Data Policy.
