The Windrush Day Grant Scheme provides funding to communities looking to celebrate, commemorate and educate about the Windrush Generation and their contribution. This programme will support people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace our shared history and help champion a sense of pride of the contributions made by British Caribbean communities.
The government are looking for organisations to develop and run projects seeking to celebrate, commemorate and educate about the Windrush Generation and their contribution to British economic, social, and cultural life. This includes those who arrived on the ship, their contemporaries, and descendants.
There is a budget of up to £500,000 to fund activities across England. The minimum amount available is £2,500 and the maximum is £25,000.
22 June each year marks National Windrush Day and should be the starting point for all successful projects. Events and activities may take place over a longer period throughout the year up until 31 December 2021.
