BAME Social Entrepreneurs

GMCVO in conjunction with the GM BAME Network are delivering a project which aims to connect and enable BAME social entrepreneurs to thrive. The project hopes to support a range of BAME social entrepreneurs from those with an idea through to more established social enterprises.

The project is taking a three-pronged approach:

  • Peer support in the form of a BAME social enterprise network. This was launched successfully on 24 February with about 30 BAME social entrepreneurs in attendance
  • Mentoring for BAME social entrepreneurs
  • Capacity building programme for management, enterprise and governance skills

Their definition of social enterprise is not prescriptive in terms of the structures organisations have but they must have trading activity and are having/hope to have social impact. More information is available here
